The Social Equity Alliance was formed to provide a united voice for Cannabis Social Equity License Holders in Los Angeles.

Stop the Redo

After years of fighting, 100 Social Equity applicants made it through Phase 3 Round 1 to the next stage of the Los Angeles Cannabis Retail Storefront application.

These applicants are vetted Social Equity participants who were impacted by the War on Drugs. Despite the odds stacked against them, they maneuvered through the City’s hoops, secured and held storefront premises, drafted operating plans and raised the capital to pay their $9,000+ application fee. They followed the rules, worked hard, and did what they were supposed to.

Now, those not selected are trying to force a redo.

City Council President Herb Wesson, and applicant’s who did not make the cut (such as those represented by the California Minority Alliance) are pushing for a redo. Wesson has sent a letter to DCR head Cat Packer demanding she 1) suspend all Retail Round 1 Applications, 2) refund all invoice fees paid by applicants and cancel all invoices, and 3) conduct a 3rd-party audit.

We must all stand together and make our voices heard to avoid losing what we have fought so hard for.
